The Fuji-Gotemba Distillery was established in 1973 at the foot of the iconic Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, under the Kirin Group umbrella. Situated at approximately 620 metres above sea level, the distillery benefits from exceptionally pure spring water filtered through the volcanic rock of Mount Fuji — a natural advantage that profoundly shapes the soft, mineral character of its whiskies. Unlike many Japanese distilleries, Fuji-Gotemba operates both pot stills and column stills, allowing it to produce a diverse range of malt and grain spirits in-house. The high-altitude, cool climate slows the maturation process, lending the whisky a refined complexity that reveals itself gradually in the glass. Expressions such as the Fuji-Gotemba 18 Years and the Small Batch releases have earned considerable acclaim from whisky enthusiasts worldwide, showcasing delicate fruit notes, gentle spice, and an almost ethereal smoothness.
