Forty Creek
Ontario, Canada · 1992'den beri
Forty Creek is a distinctive Canadian whisky born at a small distillery nestled near Grimsby, Ontario, founded in 1992 by John K. Hall, a winemaker by training who brought a viniculturist's sensibility to the craft of whisky-making. Hall's defining philosophy set him apart from the mainstream Canadian industry: rather than blending raw grains together before distillation, he distilled corn, rye, and malted barley separately, matured each in small oak barrels suited to its individual character, and only then crafted the final blend. This approach allowed each grain to express its fullest potential — corn lending sweetness and body, rye offering gentle spice, and malt contributing depth and complexity. The resulting whisky carries notes of honey, vanilla, ripe orchard fruit, and warm baking spices, with a smoothness that belies its layered character. Forty Creek earned widespread international acclaim, challenging long-held assumptions about Canadian whisky's capacity for sophistication. The brand was acquired by Campari Group in 2014, yet its production ethos and Ontario roots remain firmly intact, continuing to serve as a benchmark for artisanal Canadian whisky craftsmanship.
