The 'Spot' name itself originates from the family's charming habit of marking casks with coloured chalk dots to indicate their age and intended use. Yellow Spot 12 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, matured in a combination of American bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts, and uniquely, Málaga wine casks. It is these Málaga casks that lend Yellow Spot its singular character — an exotic sweetness, ripe stone fruit, and a Mediterranean warmth that distinguishes it from its siblings in the Spot family. On the palate, expect honeyed malt, tropical fruit, gentle spice, and a long, creamy finish. A whiskey that honours tradition while embracing the unexpected.
