Wolfburn is one of Scotland's most northerly mainland distilleries, located near the town of Thurso in the far north of the Highlands. The modern distillery was established in 2013, reviving the legacy of a historic distillery that had operated on the same site in the 1820s before falling silent. The water source is the Wolf Burn stream, which runs adjacent to the distillery and lends its name — and its character — to the spirit. Production is deliberately small-scale, with an emphasis on craft and consistency over volume. Wolfburn's core expressions — including Aurora, Northland, and Morven — showcase unpeated Highland malt at its most approachable: floral, fruity, and gently spiced, with a clean, elegant finish that reflects the pristine northern environment. The distillery has gained a loyal following among whisky enthusiasts who appreciate its honest, unhurried approach to maturation and blending.
