Tomatin

Highland, Scotland · 1897'den beri

Nestled in the Highlands of Scotland, south of Inverness at an altitude of roughly 315 metres, Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897. Its Gaelic name translates to 'hill of the juniper bushes', and the pure, cold waters of the Allt na Frith burn that flow through the estate have long shaped the distillery's distinctively clean and gentle spirit. At its peak in the mid-20th century, Tomatin was the largest single malt distillery in Scotland by production volume, boasting a capacity of 12.7 million litres per year. In 1986, it became one of the first Scottish distilleries to be acquired by a Japanese company — Takara Shuzo — a change in ownership that deepened its connection to the discerning Japanese whisky market. Today, Tomatin produces a range of expressions celebrated for their approachable, fruit-forward character: ripe banana, vanilla, toffee and subtle spice define its house style, making it a welcoming dram for newcomers and a rewarding one for seasoned whisky lovers alike.
