Teeling stands as a testament to the revival of Dublin's once-thriving whiskey heritage. The Teeling family's connection to Irish distilling stretches back to 1782, when Walter Teeling operated a small distillery in the Liberties district of the city. After more than a century of silence brought on by industrialisation, temperance movements and economic hardship, brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling established the Teeling Whiskey Distillery in 2012, marking the return of whiskey distillation to Dublin proper for the first time in 125 years. The distillery, housed in a beautifully restored building in the Liberties, combines pot still and column distillation with an adventurous approach to maturation — rum, wine and bourbon casks all play a role in shaping the house style. The result is a range of expressions that balance sweet fruit, gentle spice and subtle wood character, bridging the approachable softness of Irish whiskey with a contemporary creativity that has helped ignite the broader Irish whiskey renaissance. Teeling has quickly earned international recognition, winning numerous awards and establishing itself as a cornerstone of modern Irish whiskey culture.
