Stranahan's is one of America's pioneering craft single malt whiskeys, founded in 2004 by George Stranahan and Jess Graber in Denver, Colorado. The brand's origin story is as distinctive as its spirit: the two men met when Graber helped put out a fire in Stranahan's barn, and their friendship quickly evolved into a shared passion for distilling. Made entirely from malted barley and matured in new American oak barrels, Stranahan's takes full advantage of Colorado's high altitude and dramatic temperature swings, which accelerate the interaction between spirit and wood. The result is a whiskey of remarkable depth — offering notes of chocolate, caramel, dried fruit, vanilla, and a subtle mountain spice. Acquired by Proximo Spirits in 2010, the distillery has managed to retain its artisanal character and limited-production philosophy. The annual Snowflake release, a highly sought-after expression finished in a rotating variety of casks, has become a cultural event among American whiskey enthusiasts.
