Rabbit Hole Distillery was founded in 2012 by Karim Sobers in Louisville, Kentucky, drawing its name from the iconic rabbit hole in Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.' The name is more than literary flair — it signals a deliberate invitation to curiosity, to venture beyond the familiar and explore what bourbon can be when tradition is honored but not blindly followed. Sobers built the distillery with an emphasis on complex mash bills, resulting in expressions such as Dareringer, Heigold, Cavehill, and Boxergrail, each showcasing distinct grain combinations and maturation philosophies. The modern Louisville facility, opened in 2018, serves as both a production hub and an architecturally striking visitor destination. In 2019, Pernod Ricard acquired a majority stake in the brand, providing expanded resources while Rabbit Hole maintained its creative identity. The whiskies tend toward approachable complexity — layers of fruit, grain, and oak that reward attentive sipping without demanding years of connoisseurship to appreciate.
