Prichard's Distillery was founded in 1997 by Phil Prichard in Kelso, Tennessee, making it one of the state's pioneering craft distilleries of the modern era. What sets Prichard's apart is its deliberate decision to forgo the Lincoln County Process — the charcoal filtering of new spirit through sugar maple charcoal — a step so synonymous with Tennessee whiskey that it was written into state law. Rather than conforming to convention, Phil Prichard argued that great whiskey doesn't require a single prescribed method. The result is a spirit shaped by corn-forward mash bills and patient maturation in small barrels, offering warm, approachable profiles with notes of caramel, vanilla, and gentle oak. Beyond whiskey, Prichard's produces rum, liqueurs, and other distilled spirits, all reflecting the same hands-on, artisanal philosophy that has defined the distillery from its earliest days.
