Founded in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagás in the heart of Havana, Partagás stands as one of the oldest and most revered names in Cuban cigar heritage. The factory itself, located on Industria Street near the Capitolio, became as legendary as the cigars it produced, serving for over a century as a hub of craftsmanship and tradition. Partagás is celebrated for its full-bodied character, drawing primarily from the rich, earthy tobaccos of the Vuelta Abajo region. Its blends are known for delivering complex profiles of dark wood, espresso, leather, and warm spice. Iconic vitolas such as the Serie D No. 4 have achieved near-mythical status among aficionados worldwide. Following the Cuban Revolution, the brand was split in two — the Cuban line continues under Habanos S.A., while a Dominican iteration exists under different ownership. Both carry the Partagás name with pride, yet it is the original Habanos-produced Cuban expression that remains the benchmark against which all full-bodied cigars are often measured.
