Old Pulteney is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Pulteney Distillery in Wick, one of the most northerly distilling towns on the Scottish mainland, since 1826. Nestled within a historic fishing community that once served as the epicentre of the herring boom in the 19th century, the distillery carries the spirit of the North Sea in every bottle — earning it the well-deserved moniker 'The Maritime Malt'. The distillery's unusually shaped copper pot stills, some of which feature a flat-topped neck rather than the traditional swan neck, contribute to a distinctive texture and depth in the spirit. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Sherry casks, Old Pulteney expressions typically offer a compelling interplay of briny sea air, heather honey, vanilla, dried fruits and light spice. The 21-year-old expression gained widespread international recognition when Jim Murray crowned it World Whisky of the Year in 2012, drawing the attention of connoisseurs worldwide. Owned by Inver House Distillers, the brand remains deeply rooted in the austere, windswept character of its coastal home.
