Old Grand-Dad

Kentucky, United States · 1882'den beri

Old Grand-Dad stands as one of the most storied names in American bourbon heritage. The brand is named in honor of Basil Hayden Sr., a pioneering Kentucky distiller of the early 19th century whose likeness graces the label as the iconic bearded patriarch. Established in 1882, Old Grand-Dad is distinguished by its high-rye mash bill, which sets it apart from many of its contemporaries. This elevated rye content lends the whiskey a notably spicy, peppery character alongside notes of orange zest, dried fruit, and gentle oak. The result is a bourbon that feels both assertive and approachable — a balance that has kept it in the hearts of enthusiasts for well over a century. Today produced at Jim Beam's Clermont distillery under the Beam Suntory umbrella, Old Grand-Dad is available in several expressions including the 80-proof standard bottling, the 100-proof Bottled-in-Bond, and the 114-proof barrel-strength version. Despite changes in ownership over the decades, the high-rye recipe has remained intact, preserving a direct lineage to its founding philosophy. It is a bourbon that rewards both the casual sipper and the seasoned connoisseur.
