Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt Scotch whisky crafted from three single malts originating from the heart of Speyside, Scotland. Launched in 2005 by William Grant & Sons, the whisky takes its distinctive name from a colloquial term for a repetitive strain injury historically suffered by maltmen who turned barley by hand on the malting floors — a nod to the craft and labour that lies at the heart of whisky-making. The blend draws from Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, and Kininvie distilleries, resulting in a smooth, approachable expression characterised by notes of fresh fruit, vanilla sweetness, spiced oak, and a gentle malty warmth. Monkey Shoulder has carved a particularly notable reputation in the cocktail world, embraced by bartenders globally for its versatility and consistent quality.
