Mannochmore
Speyside, Scotland · 1971'den beri
Mannochmore Distillery was established in 1971 by Scottish Malt Distillers, now part of Diageo, on the outskirts of Elgin in Speyside. Built adjacent to the historic Glenlossie Distillery, the two sites share the same water source, the Bardon Burn, yet each cultivates a distinctly different character. Mannochmore tends toward the floral and gently fruited side of the Speyside spectrum, a profile shaped by long fermentation periods and a notably slow distillation process. Like many of its regional contemporaries, Mannochmore was mothballed between 1985 and 1989 during a period of industry-wide overproduction before returning to full operation. It gained broader recognition through Diageo's celebrated Flora & Fauna bottling series, which introduced many whisky enthusiasts to its light, elegant style. Tasting notes from official bottlings typically reveal sweet cereal grains, jasmine blossom, ripe pear, and a delicate vanilla warmth on the finish. Though it rarely appears in the spotlight, Mannochmore rewards the patient explorer — a quietly accomplished Speyside malt that speaks in whispers rather than proclamations.
