Longmorn Distillery was founded in 1894 by John Duff near Elgin in the heart of Speyside. Its name derives from the ancient Gaelic 'Lhanmorgund', meaning 'place of the holy man', lending the distillery an almost sacred sense of heritage from the very beginning. For much of its history, Longmorn remained something of an insider's secret — its single malt highly sought after by blenders across Speyside but rarely showcased as a standalone expression. The distillery has long maintained traditional production methods, including the use of worm tub condensers, which contribute to the spirit's distinctively full-bodied and complex character. Expect notes of ripe orchard fruits, toasted nuts, warm honey, and subtle spice layered across a rich, creamy texture. Now operating under Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, Longmorn's 16-year-old expression has become its defining bottling — a whisky that rewards patience and attention in equal measure. It stands as a quiet benchmark of Speyside craftsmanship.
