Liga Privada is a premium cigar line introduced by Drew Estate in 2008, though it had been blended and enjoyed privately by the company's blenders for years before its public release — hence the name, which translates roughly to 'private league' or 'private blend' in Spanish. The most celebrated expression, No. 9, is wrapped in a dark, oily Connecticut Habano broadleaf wrapper that encases a complex filler blend of seven different Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos. The result is a richly layered smoke, offering notes of dark chocolate, espresso, dried fruit, and a subtle peppery finish that lingers long after the cigar is set down. The T52, the line's second major expression, features a Connecticut River Valley broadleaf wrapper and delivers a slightly fuller, earthier character. Both expressions are made entirely by hand at Drew Estate's La Gran Fabrica in Estelí, Nicaragua, with production kept deliberately limited to maintain quality. That scarcity has only deepened the brand's cult following among cigar enthusiasts worldwide.
