Knockdhu Distillery was founded in 1893 at the foot of the Knock Hill in Speyside, Scotland. Its name derives from the Gaelic for 'black hill', a fitting tribute to the dramatic landscape that surrounds it. Operated by Inver House Distillers, Knockdhu releases its single malt under the anCnoc label — a decision made to avoid confusion with the Knockando distillery elsewhere in Scotland. AnCnoc expressions are characterised by a delicate interplay of orchard fruits, floral notes, and a subtle sweetness that sets them apart from the weightier Speyside style. The distillery continues to use traditional worm tub condensers, a choice that contributes a slightly waxy and distinctive texture to the spirit. With a modest production capacity, Knockdhu remains one of Speyside's quieter gems — understated, consistent, and deeply rewarding for those willing to seek it out.
