Kilbeggan

County Westmeath, Ireland · 1757'den beri

Kilbeggan stands as one of the oldest continuously licensed distilleries in the world, tracing its origins to 1757 in the small town of Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Ireland. Founded by Mathew McManus, the distillery weathered centuries of hardship — from Ireland's turbulent political history to the devastation of the Great Depression — before falling silent for decades. It was not until Cooley Distillery revived production in 2007 that the name Kilbeggan reclaimed its rightful place on the Irish whiskey map. Now operating under the Beam Suntory portfolio, Kilbeggan employs a double distillation process rather than the more common triple distillation, lending its whiskeys a fuller, more robust character. The flagship blended Irish whiskey is celebrated for its smooth grain sweetness, gentle fruitiness, and a whisper of oak spice — approachable yet layered enough for contemplative sipping. The historic mill and original pot still equipment remain preserved on-site, offering visitors a tangible connection to centuries of Irish distilling heritage.
