The word 'Antaño' translates from Spanish as 'of long ago' or 'in days of old,' a name that pays direct tribute to the golden era of Nicaraguan cigars from the 1970s. Founded in 1968, Joya de Nicaragua endured the devastation of the country's civil war before rising again in the early 1990s with renewed purpose. The Antaño line was introduced in 1997 as a deliberate homage to that classic era, blending tobaccos exclusively sourced from Nicaragua's premier growing regions, including the fertile Jalapa valley and the highlands of Estelí. The result is a powerhouse of a cigar: rich, complex, and unmistakably Nicaraguan. Notes of roasted espresso, dark chocolate, earthy leather, and a persistent black pepper spice define the smoking experience.
