Green Spot stands as one of Ireland's most cherished single pot still whiskeys, born from a tradition that stretches back to 1805 through the Dublin wine and spirits merchant Mitchell & Son. Under the historic Irish 'bonding' system, wine merchants would purchase new-make spirit, mature it in their own warehouses, and sell it under proprietary labels — a practice that once produced several 'Spot' expressions distinguished by color. Of those, Green Spot endured as the sole survivor. Produced today at the celebrated Midleton Distillery in County Cork, it is crafted entirely in the pot still manner using a mash of both malted and unmalted barley — the hallmark of the Irish style. Matured predominantly in ex-bourbon barrels with a proportion of Oloroso Sherry casks, it offers a beautifully layered palate of fresh orchard fruits, creaminess, gentle spice, and a lingering, warming finish. Green Spot is widely regarded as an essential gateway into the world of Irish pot still whiskey.
