Glenturret is widely regarded as one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland, with records tracing its origins back to 1763, nestled beside the River Turret in Perthshire. Over the centuries it changed hands numerous times and endured periods of closure, yet its resilient spirit — much like the whisky it produces — has always found a way to endure. In recent years, a landmark partnership with the French luxury house Lalique has breathed new life into Glenturret, marrying traditional Scottish craft with refined continental aesthetics. The distillery relies on time-honoured pot still distillation and slow, deliberate maturation to craft single malts of considerable character. Expect notes of heather honey, ripe orchard fruit, gentle spice and a subtle earthy warmth. Beyond its liquid legacy, Glenturret is immortalised by the legendary mouser Towser, a tortoiseshell cat credited with catching an astounding 28,899 mice over her lifetime — a feat enshrined in the Guinness World Records. Few distilleries carry so much history within their stone walls.
