Glenkinchie Distillery stands in the rolling countryside of Pencaitland, East Lothian, a short distance southeast of Edinburgh. Founded in 1825 by brothers John and George Rate, it has long been celebrated as 'The Edinburgh Malt', serving as the Lowlands' most prominent ambassador. The distillery is home to some of the largest pot stills in Scotland, a design choice that contributes directly to Glenkinchie's signature lightness — a whisky defined by floral notes, gentle citrus, soft grain sweetness, and a clean, dry finish. Unlike the peated drams of the north and west, Glenkinchie speaks quietly, inviting newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs alike with its approachable, refined character. Now part of Diageo's Classic Malts selection, it also plays a vital role as a component in Johnnie Walker blends.
