GlenDronach was founded in 1826 by James Allardice in the quiet valley of Forgue, Aberdeenshire, making it one of Scotland's oldest continually licensed distilleries. Its ownership has passed through several hands over the decades — Teacher's acquired it in the 1960s, and in 2008 it was revived by the BenRiach Distillery Company, before becoming part of the Brown-Forman portfolio in 2016. What defines GlenDronach above all else is its unwavering commitment to sherry cask maturation, specifically Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks sourced from Spain. These casks impart a richly layered character: dried fruits, Christmas spice, dark chocolate, worn leather, and a warming walnut finish that lingers long after the glass is set down. Full-bodied and generous in texture, GlenDronach stands as a benchmark for traditional Highland whisky that refuses to compromise. Its core expressions — the 12, 15, and 18 Year Old — are complemented by the acclaimed Parliament 21 Year Old and periodic single cask releases that captivate collectors and seasoned drinkers alike.
