The Girvan Distillery was established in 1963 by William Grant & Sons on the Ayrshire coast of southwest Scotland. Built primarily to supply grain whisky for the company's blended Scotch expressions, most notably Grant's, the distillery has grown into a landmark facility in its own right. Operating through continuous column distillation, Girvan produces a grain whisky that embodies the classic Lowland character — light, smooth, and approachable, with notes of vanilla, fresh fruit, and delicate cereal sweetness. When aged in American oak casks over many years, these gentle flavours deepen into a creamy, almost dessert-like richness that belies the grain whisky category's underdog reputation. The site is also home to Ailsa Bay Distillery, a malt whisky operation launched within the same complex in 2007, reflecting the ambition and diversity of the Grant family's spirit-making legacy.
