George Dickel

Tennessee, USA · 1870'den beri

George Dickel is one of Tennessee whisky's most distinctive and quietly compelling voices. Founded in the 1870s at Cascade Hollow, the distillery carries the philosophy of its namesake, George A. Dickel, who believed whisky made in winter was smoother than that made in summer. This conviction gave rise to a unique cold-mellowing step performed before the spirit enters the charcoal filtration of the Lincoln County Process. Despite sharing the same state and the same general method as its more famous neighbor Jack Daniel's, Dickel remains a proudly understated expression of Tennessee craftsmanship. The soft limestone-filtered waters of Cascade Creek, combined with cold filtering and careful maturation, yield a whisky that is notably smooth, with notes of caramel, roasted nuts, and gentle vanilla. Even the deliberate use of the Scottish spelling 'whisky' over the American 'whiskey' signals the brand's quiet idiosyncrasies. Now part of Diageo, Dickel continues to evolve through expressions like Bottled in Bond and various grain blends, offering enthusiasts a different lens through which to appreciate Tennessee whisky.
