Edradour

Highland, Scotland · 1825'den beri

Nestled in a secluded valley near Pitlochry in Perthshire, Edradour has long held the distinction of being one of Scotland's smallest traditional distilleries. Founded in 1825, it traces its roots to the cooperative farming communities of the Scottish Highlands, where small-scale whisky production was a natural extension of agricultural life. For many decades, the distillery operated with a staff of just three people, preserving a handcrafted approach that larger industrial distilleries had long abandoned. In 2002, Andrew Symington of Signatory Vintage acquired Edradour, ushering in a new era of experimentation with diverse cask finishes — including Madeira, Sauternes, Burgundy, Chardonnay, and Moscatel — while maintaining the distillery's commitment to traditional methods. The resulting single malts are known for their creamy, fruity, and gently spiced character, often layered with a richness born of exceptional wood maturation. Edradour remains a cherished destination for whisky enthusiasts visiting Scotland, offering not only a dram of remarkable complexity but also a rare window into the artisan distilling heritage of the Highlands.
