Crown Royal
Gimli, Manitoba, Canada · 1939'den beri
Crown Royal was born in 1939 as a tribute to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth during their historic royal tour of Canada. Samuel Bronfman of Seagram's personally oversaw the creation of this exceptional blend, of which only 600 bottles were produced and gifted exclusively to the royal entourage. The whisky was not made available to the public until 1964, yet it quickly rose to become the best-selling Canadian whisky in North America, a title it has held for decades. Produced at the Gimli Distillery in Manitoba, Crown Royal is a masterful blend of more than 50 grain whiskies, each aged separately before blending. The result is a whisky of remarkable smoothness, offering notes of vanilla, dried fruit, caramel, and a gentle oak finish. Its iconic purple velvet pouch and gilded box are as recognizable as the liquid inside. Now under Diageo's ownership, the brand has expanded its portfolio with flavored expressions and limited barrel-finished releases, while the classic blend remains a cornerstone of Canadian whisky culture.
