The whiskey takes its name from the rugged, bog-laden landscape of Connemara on Ireland's wild Atlantic coast — a land shaped by ancient peat deposits and fierce oceanic winds. Barley is dried over peat smoke, echoing Scottish tradition, yet the Irish triple distillation process lends the spirit a distinctive softness that sets it apart from its Hebridean cousins. On the nose, lemon zest, vanilla, and a hint of meadow flowers greet the senses before the palate reveals sweet malt, orchard fruit, and a gentle but persistent peat smoke. Following Beam Inc.'s acquisition of Cooley in 2011, Connemara continues under the Kilbeggan Distilling Company banner.
