Cohiba Behike
Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río, Cuba · 2006'den beri
Cohiba Behike stands as arguably the most prestigious and elusive series in the Cuban cigar world. Its origins trace back to 2006, when a single batch of just 40 cigars was handcrafted by Norma Fernández, head roller at the legendary El Laguito factory in Havana. Named after the 'behique,' the spiritual healer and leader of the ancient Taíno people, the series made its limited commercial debut in 2010 and has commanded reverence ever since. What truly sets Behike apart from all other Cohibas — and indeed from virtually all other cigars — is the inclusion of 'medio tiempo' leaves in the blend. These leaves, which grow only at the very apex of the tobacco plant and appear infrequently even in the finest vegas, carry an exceptionally concentrated flavor and nicotine content. Available in three vitolas — BHK 52, BHK 54, and BHK 56 — Behike delivers a complex and velvety smoking experience marked by notes of dark chocolate, espresso, toasted cedar, and warm spice. To light a Cohiba Behike is to engage with Cuban tobacco craft at its most refined and unhurried.
