Bruichladdich

Islay, Scotland · 1881'den beri

Bruichladdich was established in 1881 on the western shore of Islay, the storied Scottish island whose name is almost synonymous with heavily peated single malt whisky. Yet Bruichladdich has long charted its own course: deliberately moving away from the island's signature smoke to champion terroir-driven, predominantly unpeated expressions. After decades of silence, the distillery was resurrected in 2001 by an independent group of enthusiasts determined to honour both craft and provenance. The core Bruichladdich line is floral and maritime, with a delicate complexity that rewards patient contemplation. Port Charlotte introduces a moderate peat presence, yielding richer, more robust drams, while Octomore pushes the boundaries of heavily peated whisky to extraordinary levels without sacrificing elegance. Throughout all three ranges, Scottish barley — often locally grown — remains at the heart of the philosophy. Even after joining the Rémy Cointreau portfolio, the distillery has retained its spirit of progressive curiosity and genuine transparency, making Bruichladdich one of the most thought-provoking producers in the world of Scotch.
