Blair Athol

Highland, Scotland · 1798'den beri

Blair Athol Distillery, nestled in the village of Blair Atholl in Perthshire, Scotland, stands as one of the oldest working distilleries in the Highlands, with origins tracing back to 1798. Despite changing hands numerous times over two centuries, the distillery has maintained a steadfast identity rooted in its Highland terroir. Today operating under Diageo's stewardship, Blair Athol has long served as one of the key malt components in Bell's blended Scotch whisky. However, it has earned independent recognition through its 12-year-old single malt expression, released as part of Diageo's acclaimed Flora & Fauna series. The distillery draws its water from the Allt Dour burn, lending a clean, mineral quality to the spirit. On the palate, Blair Athol reveals rich notes of dried fruits — raisins, figs, and a touch of orange peel — layered with warm spice and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of milk chocolate. The finish is long, warming, and softly nutty. It is a whisky that rewards patience rather than demanding attention; understated, approachable, and deeply representative of the Highland character.
