Bladnoch is one of Scotland's oldest and most southerly distilleries, nestled beside the Bladnoch River near Wigtown in the Lowlands region. Founded in 1817, it carries more than two centuries of whisky-making heritage on its shoulders. Over the years, Bladnoch has weathered numerous ownership changes and at one point faced permanent closure, a fate that was averted in 2015 when Australian entrepreneur David Prior acquired the distillery and committed to a thorough restoration. Production resumed in 2017, breathing new life into a place of deep historical significance. The whisky produced at Bladnoch is quintessentially Lowland in character — light, floral, and approachable, with delicate notes of citrus, green apple, vanilla, and cream. There is a gentle elegance to these expressions that invites contemplation rather than demands attention.
