Benromach is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located near Forres in the Speyside region, established in 1898. After a turbulent history marked by several ownership changes and extended periods of closure, the distillery was acquired by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail in 1993. Following a meticulous restoration, it was officially reopened by Prince Charles in 1998, marking a new chapter in its long story. What sets Benromach apart is its deliberate embrace of a lightly peated Speyside style — a nod to the pre-1960s character of the region before peat largely fell out of fashion. The distillery operates on a relatively small scale, allowing for careful oversight of every stage of production.
