Benrinnes
Speyside, Scotland · 1826'den beri
Benrinnes Distillery stands at the foot of Ben Rinnes mountain in Speyside, Scotland, and has been producing whisky since 1826. The distillery draws its water from the pure springs that flow down the slopes of the mountain, a source that lends a distinctive mineral quality to its spirit. Having survived fires and reconstructions over the decades, Benrinnes now operates under the Diageo umbrella. One of its most notable historical features was a partial triple distillation process — an unusual configuration that imparted extra weight and richness to the new make spirit. While Benrinnes has long served as a backbone malt in several blended Scotch whiskies, it has steadily gained recognition as a single malt in its own right. Expressions released through the Flora & Fauna series and independent bottlers have showcased its hallmark characteristics: ripe orchard fruits, a meaty and full-bodied texture, subtle sulfurous notes, and a warming, lingering finish. It occupies a unique space within Speyside — heavier and more brooding than the typical floral profile associated with the region, yet unmistakably complex and rewarding for those willing to explore it.
