Auchroisk
Speyside, Scotland · 1974'den beri
Auchroisk Distillery was established in 1974 near the village of Mulben in Speyside, Scotland. Its name, derived from Scottish Gaelic, is commonly pronounced 'Oth-rusk' and translates roughly as 'the ford by the red stream.' Built primarily to supply heart spirit for Diageo's blended Scotch portfolio, Auchroisk spent much of its early life as an unsung workhorse of the industry. That changed in the 1980s when limited single malt releases under the 'Singleton' label revealed the distillery's considerable character to a wider audience. The whisky produced here tends toward a fruity, floral profile with notes of ripe orchard fruits — apple, pear — alongside gentle spice and well-integrated oak. Its robust body makes it an excellent candidate for blending, yet it stands confidently on its own when given the chance. Bottlings under the Flora & Fauna range have offered enthusiasts a relatively accessible window into this quietly accomplished Speyside expression.
